Lakeland Feeds

The feed mill idea began in 2018 when we placed our first flock of laying hens. Being an organic farm we were forced to ship feed from the Fraser Valley or Alberta which put us at high risk of losing feed supply. It also increased our cost of production significantly with increased transportation and significantly increased our environmental footprint. We saw a great opportunity to not only utilize the organic grain crops we were producing on the farm but also to have increased control over the critically important nutrition of our hens. Construction completed in Nov 2020 after which we spent 6 months feeding our own flock, testing and improving our system with guidance from Poultry Partners (nutrition consultants). In the spring of 2021 we began commercial production of organic feed for poultry, ruminants, swine. In 2022 we expanded in to bagged feed for smaller producers. We now have a diverse customer base from Abbotsford, to Whitehorse and East in to the Prairie Provinces. We pride ourselves not only in the quality of our feed but the relationships and trust we’ve created with our producers.
We have designed the mill, the ingredients, the process and storage for what we saw would benefit our production because we’re farmer’s too! We source our ingredients from our own production with a high focus on Western Canadian products for volumes and items we can’t supply ourselves.
We hope that our businesses can be a leader not only in animal health and production but also in a strong, sustainable and secure food system in BC!

Our Line of Products

Certified Organic

We have been certified organic since
2015 by EcoCert Canada. Certification
means you know that we have been
inspected by a 3rd party auditor to
ensure we’re following the Canadian
Organic Standards and we know our
suppliers have done the same.

Non-GMO

Because we are certified organic you
can be assured that all of our products
are free from Genetically Modified
Organisms.

Okanagan Made

Regional food security has become vitally important and its a big reason why we are here. We didn’t have a local source of organic feed for our farm which created this great opportunity in the feed mill. We are happy to grow a good chunk of our ingredients on our own organic farm in Salmon Arm.

Key Benefits

We get the basics right

Our equipment was designed for quality control on fundamental measures such as particle size, mixer efficiency, and inclusion accuracy.

Supply chain control

As both providers of ingredients and users of final feed products, we are uniquely aware of the connections in our supply chain. We understand your needs and expectations and we promise to exceed them!

Customer Support

Our partners in agronomy, animal nutrition and animal health ensure we’re at the forefront of our rapidly changing industries. We’re here to support our customers.

Roller mill

A key to the quality of our feed is our roller mill. Grind size is highly adjustable, extremely accurate, and you will find high uniformity and low levels of dust is our feed.

Focus on digestive health

Nutrition science is waking up to the importance of digestive health and the microbiome. No different than healthy soil growing healthy plants, the microbes in our livestock’s digestive system affect their overall health and performance. We focus on clean ingredients, fiber levels, organic/natural additives, and the long game is increasing the nutrient density of our food.

What Our Customers Are Saying

  • “We’ve been enjoying (well the hens have been enjoying) Lakeland Feeds for a few years now. The feed is excellent and Mike and co. are lovely to work with. Thanks Lakeland!”

  • I’ve been doing business with Mike and his crew at Lakeland Farms since 2017. Over the years I’ve bought corn, hay silage, dry hay, and several different grains (as both grain and silage). Mike has always been very fair to deal with. He has a passion for organic farming and is always happy to share his cropping techniques in terms of rotations, soil amendments, weed control, and planting/tillage strategies. I look forward to hopefully doing many more years of business with Lakeland Farms.
